The first legs of the Champions League semifinals have already played, and so far, it seems like Manchester City against Real Madrid might actually be the real UCL final, as neither Milan-based side seems like they have enough to go all the way against either Los Blancos or the Manchester Blues. With that all being said, here are my predictions for the remainder of the semifinals of this year’s Champions League.
Manchester City vs Real Madrid
In my opinion, the team that wins this draw will win the Champions League. The second leg is quite lucrative as the first match between the European heavyweights in Madrid ended even-steven in a 1-1 draw that saw both Vinicius Jr and Kevin De Bruyne score impressive outside-the-box goals. I think this second leg between the clubs will be tight but I have Manchester City going through in a 2-1 win thanks to their home-field advantage in the second leg. Although many rival fans banter City for the Etihad Stadium’s lack of atmosphere, the stadium is still a fortress for the Manchester club. Throughout this season, Manchester City have only lost once at home, which was to Brentford in the Premier League. Sure, Madrid are an incredible team, and they have shown they are, objectively, the kings of this competition, with 14 Champions League titles in their possession. At the end of the day, though, I still have Manchester City winning in a close and competitive second-leg match.
Inter Milan vs AC Milan
Inter Milan humbled their local rivals AC Milan in a 2-0 win in their first-leg match. In the second leg, I predict the exact same result, with Inter winning 2-0 against AC Milan again. If Rafael Leao is unable to play in the second leg for AC Milan, then I feel the club will have a rough time in the second leg. Inter Milan, on the other hand, already have a 2-0 advantage on aggregate, so they should be able to comfortably advance to the Champions League final, especially if AC Milan are unable to play their starman Rafael Leao.
So, will Manchester City get their revenge against Real Madrid after last year’s semifinal heartbreak? Will AC Milan pull off the comeback of a lifetime against their biggest rivals? We don’t know yet, but we sure can predict for now.
